My Approach to Therapy

For our sessions, you can come in exactly how you are and bring whatever you are experiencing. The most important part is showing up for yourself, especially when it feels messy and hard, and even when you don't know what to talk about at first. Establishing a ritual of therapy is key. Together we can build a relationship where you feel like you can acknowledge and explore the difficult stuff that is bothering you.

The work that I do is insight based, meaning that I do not give advise or provide the answers to your problems (however I may give you some tools and strategies that you can experiment with). I don't have an agenda and I don't know what 'healing' or 'health' mean to you, but I will explore these concepts with you so you can define and create the life you are longing for.

This insight-based approach is grounded on the belief that every person possesses an inner compass that is trustworthy. I will help you reconnect with your inner compass. In this way, you won't become dependent on me. Instead, you will learn how to support and care for yourself over the course of our work together.

Through a pluralistic approach, I help individuals expand their capacity to be more resilient, vulnerable, compassionate, and tolerant, as a basis for managing daily stressors and developing a deeper connection between self and others. My approach is 'pluralistic' meaning that it is informed by many schools of thought, all of which place the therapeutic relationship at the forefront of our work together. I draw from the following disciplines to offer you an approach that is tailored to you and your unique needs:

  • Person-Centred/Experiential Therapy

  • Attachment Theory

  • Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

  • Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Systems Theory

  • Transactional Analysis (TA)

  • Self-Compassion Practices

  • Somatic Practices

  • Emotion Focused-Therapy (EFT)

  • Expressive Arts

  • Sensorimotor Psychotherapy

  • Visualisation/Relaxation Practices
